Donald Trump Jr.: I had no knowledge of meeting with Russians

The President’s eldest son and the president’s former campaign chairman met last week with a Russian lawyer in a meeting that was set up by the Trump campaign to set up a meeting with a Kremlin-linked lawyer, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.

The meeting came on the heels of reports that Trump Jr. and Paul Manafort met with a lawyer that the campaign sought to use to get information from a Russian government-connected bank.

It is unclear if the Trump Jr.-Manafort meeting was an official meeting or a private one, but the former campaign chairman’s actions were at odds with the president and the Republican Party.

At a press conference Thursday, Trump Jr., who was in attendance at the meeting, did not dispute the details of the meeting.

“This is just part of my normal routine, as I have said before, so I have no further comment,” Trump Jr said.

Trump Jr. did not respond to a question from The Associated Press, saying he wanted to speak more to his father.

The president’s son’s father, Donald Trump, has repeatedly denied having any involvement in the meeting and called it a “nothing burger.”

“He doesn’t need any of this.

The meeting is not about anything,” Trump said at the press conference.

The White House press office did not immediately respond to ABC News’ request for comment on Trump Jr.’s statement.

Republican lawmakers have been critical of the president over his handling of the Russia scandal.

Rep. Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said Trump Jr’s comments Thursday are an admission that his actions were inappropriate.

“I believe that the president himself is now admitting to being involved in the scheme to get damaging information on the president,” Schiff said.

The Trump campaign has not admitted that the information they were offering to the Russian government was damaging to the president, but now we know it was.””

There’s a real risk that the Trump administration will continue to make these kind of claims and to try to minimize the gravity of this crisis.

The Trump campaign has not admitted that the information they were offering to the Russian government was damaging to the president, but now we know it was.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., called the president an “emperor” in a tweet on Thursday.

“I can’t believe what I just read.

He did nothing wrong.

But he was right.

And the rest of us need to do better,” Graham tweeted.

Trump Jr.’a statement to Fox News did not deny that he met with the Russian lawyer, but said he was not told the names of any Russian government officials.

“The information that I was told regarding my father’s campaign was that he wanted damaging information about my father and my father was never discussed or offered to me, and never occurred,” Trump Sr. said in his statement.

“The meeting was set-up by a pro-Russia political party with the knowledge of the campaign, and the lawyer who set it up did so on behalf of the Trump Campaign.”

Trump Jr., the president son, was in Washington on Wednesday to meet with congressional committees and other officials on the investigation into Russia’s election interference.
