A look at the legal challenges facing the Trump administration’s health care bill

Washington (AP) The Trump administration is expected to file a brief with the Supreme Court on Monday that seeks to block a provision of the Affordable Care Act that critics say gives states the authority to limit insurance coverage for abortion and other medical procedures.

The provision has been a sticking point for opponents who say it would give states broad new powers to limit abortions, limit women’s access to birth control and impose a waiting period for abortions.

The Trump administration and some Democrats have argued that the provision does not grant states the power to impose new restrictions on abortion providers and that it gives states wide latitude in how to handle certain procedures, including the provision that states can impose a 20-week waiting period.
